GODSPELL with The Underground Youth Group, March 12th

2/26/2016

Picture
On Saturday, March 12, The Underground will attend the Broadway musical Godspell which is written by the same writer of the Broadway musical Wicked, by the Troy Ridgedale Players. The cost is $17.00 per ticket.

"Godspell is cause to rejoice! This irresistibly exuberant production will make you a believer in the power of musical theater!" - USA Today

"Go forth and enjoy!" - New York Magazine

Prepare ye for GODSPELL, the beloved musical from Stephen Schwartz, the Grammy® and Academy Award®-winning composer of WICKED. Raise your spirit with the Tony®-nominated score filled with the popular hits "Day By Day," "Light of the World". The structure of the musical is that of a series of parables, mostly based on the Gospel of Matthew (three of the featured parables are recorded only in the Gospel of Luke). The parables are interspersed with a variety of modern music set primarily to lyrics from traditional hymns, with the passion of Christ treated briefly near the end of the performance. It is a timeless tale of friendship, loyalty, and love that has touched the hearts of countless theatergoers all over the world.  It will stir your soul, raise your spirit and lift you  right out of your seat. MCCD Celebrates Two Years with Rev. Roland Stringfellow!

2/26/2016

March 1, 2016
marks the 2nd anniversary of our beloved Pastor Roland Stringfellow. As a congregation, let us pause, reflect and give thanks for his presence, guidance and leadership. Under his direction, we have increased membership, formed new outreach programs and come together in the spirit of community fellowship. In the days and months ahead, we ask God to bestow special blessings and a covering of protection on him. As we celebrate this anniversary, Pastor Stringfellow is busy writing his dissertation and preparing for his role at the UFMCC General Conference. Let us each think of ways we can show our love and support during his anniversary season.

We are looking for a few good PowerPoint operators! Are you comfortable with PowerPoint? Here's a ministry you can do sitting down! It is easy to do--there's a script to follow, and a few buttons to push, and it's a good idea to arrive about 10:30 am on Sunday to set up the laptop and go over the script before the service. Interested? Email the church office or call 248-399-774.

The Election of the Moderator for Metropolitan Community Churches

2/6/2016

This July, our denomination will be electing a new leader for MCC, at General Conference in Victoria, British Columbia. Please read the following message.
A Message from the Moderator Nominating Committee
on the Announcement of the Candidates

We are pleased to introduce the MCC Moderator candidates. We believe that each candidate embodies the required characteristics for Moderator, brings a unique vision for the future of MCC, and will meet the opportunities and challenges facing MCC with
faith, boldness, and courage.

We are grateful for and would like to thank everyone who participated in the process. We especially express our thanks and gratitude to the Governing Board for trusting the process, and to every nominee, applicant, and potential candidate for your courage and inspiration that made our decisions so difficult.

It is our prayer and hope that MCCers around the world will get to know all of the candidates, listen to their visions, and engage in a global conversation and process of discernment as we open ourselves to the Spirit and God's call for MCC.

With joy, gratitude and hope,
The MCC Moderator Nominating Committee

If you have any questions or concerns, you can contact one of your elected MCC-Detroit lay delegates, Karen Dillaman or Jim Hartoon. We will have more information as we move closer to General Conference XXVI, July 2016.
