Associate Pastor
Rev. Deb Cox has been a member of MCC since 1975 when she became a member of MCC Columbus, Columbus, OH. She was a very active lay leader for many years, and active at the denominational level serving in several capacities. In the early 1990’s Deb realized that God was calling her to professional ministry and studied at Christian Theological Seminary and at Chicago Theological seminary. After she was ordained in 1997, she began her ministry on staff in Cincinnati, OH at New Spirit MCC.
Rev. Deb moved to the Detroit area in 1998 as she assumed her first call to become a Solo Pastor of a church in the Detroit area, Divine Peace MCC. She pastored there for eight years. During her tenure at that church the church grew from 11 people to about 98 people at one point. She has been at MCC Detroit since summer of 2007 and been on staff for most of that time.
Rev. Deb also works as a school teacher in Pontiac, MI and has been a teacher for 40 years. She has a deep love of teaching and of pastoring. She is married to Ann Cox and has a quirky cat Wilbur who runs their household (at least he thinks so!)
