MCC Detroit (MCCD) has two Lay Delegate votes to cast at the General Conference on July 2, 2019. We determine whom to cast the MCCD Lay votes for by a simple majority of the ballots received from the current members of MCCD. That will give us a ranking of MCCD's choices, in case one candidate withdraws. In addition to the votes of the Lay Delegates, the Clergy also vote. Both the Lay Delegates and the Clergy have to elect one person with over 50% of the ballots cast.

The process to cast your votes:

1. Starting Sunday, May 26th, after church (for 15-20 minutes), a lay delegate or board member will be at the Clawson Nursery door to hand out ballots. The Nursery has a half-door and is on the main hallway. You can pick up your ballot and cast your vote on any of the five Sundays from May 26th through June 23rd. Please keep any questions for the person handing out ballots to issues concerning the ballot or voting process only. For questions or concerns about the candidates or bylaw changes, please talk to your lay delegates Hattie Alexander-Key & Jim Hartoon during fellowship time. The lay delegates will attempt to answer all your questions. MCCD desires a GREAT response. Members, PLEASE VOTE!

2. Only MCCD members are eligible to cast a ballot.

3. To receive a ballot, you will initial next to your name on the membership list at the Nursery door. This will be the only ballot we can issue you, so please handle it carefully. This is a secret ballot, so your name on the returned ballot is not necessary. Once you fill it out, you can put it into the ballot collection box we will have at the Nursery door after service (for 15-20 minutes) then downstairs on the visitor's table for the remainder of fellowship time. After fellowship, the ballot collection box will be secured in the Board office until the next Sunday. You can pick up your ballot and cast your vote on any of the five Sundays beginning Sunday, May 26th through Sunday, June 23rd. On the last Sunday, June 23rd, voting will close at 1:15pm.

4. The MCCD vote results will be announced on Sunday, June 30 during the church service.
